Healthy Kids Day 2012

Ten local YMCA centers will host Healthy Kids Day 2012 from 10 am – 2 pm. This event is aimed at getting children interested in being active and exercising all summer long. The event will have activities such as Family Zumba, Family Swim, and obstacle courses. Call each center for more information.

Fishtown ShadFest 2012

Don’t let the clouds get you down today. Get outside and head to the Shadfest to enjoy live music, local arts and crafts, children activites, good food, and the Kenzinger Challenge Run all while helping to raise money for the Friends of Penn Treaty Park. This annual celebration occurs at the Penn Treaty Park located on the western bank of the Delaware River (click here for map).

If shopping is more your thing, head to the Northern Liberties Spring Sidewalk sale where neighborhood stores will be offering nice discounts on merchandise as well as offering refreshments to visitors. Participating stores include Art Star, Duke & Winston, Casa Papel, Arcadia Boutique, Once Worn, SWAG, Millesime. Sale goes from 11-7 PM.

Sunday, April 29

Fairmount Arts Crawl

The Fairmount Arts Crawl is an annual event for art lovers, residents, and visitors to the Fairmount neighborhood to stroll down the avenue visiting businesses converted to art venues all while enjoying music, kid friendly activities, and live demonstrations. The crawl goes from 2-6 PM. I plan to be there!

World Dance Day

The Piazza at Schmidts will host the third annual World Dance Day from 12-3 PM. Instructors will be available to help the experienced and not so experienced. Get out and dance!

Science Discovery Day at Clark Park

From 11 am to 4 PM Clark Park will host Science Day as part of the Philadelphia Science Festival. Visitors to the park will have the chance to meet local scientists, and learn about the physics of basketball. There will be plenty of activity stations throughout the park with an outdoors and sustainability theme.
